The board of directors
- Elects officers
- Supports locations
- Facilitates and monitors the organization's growth
In a for-profit coorporation, the shareholders appoint board members. However, a non-profit corporation, also commonly known as a non-stock corporation, is ownerless. The idea behind this is that a non-profit organization serves public interests instead of private ones. Therefore, the board appoints itself whenever there is a need to change to board's composition. (Note August 22: The only exception to this is during the formational process. Those who found a non-profit corporation appoint the board members. That is also the reason why the list of board members and directors might look sparse, depending on when you read this!)
The board mostly draws from the pool of location managers and works with the officers, such as the president or treasurer, to advance the organizations interests.
You can find the current board members and directors, as well as their designation and field of work down below.
